Markets Panic amid the corona virus

Markets Panic amid the corona virus

Well, since our last post, markets have gone even further down and have pretty much wiped out the whole Trump elections gains in a matter of two weeks.  We have been warning of bubbles and valuations being absolutely out of control and now reality is starting to come into focus. We suspect margin calls are also exacerbating the selling  We were short and were long some puts and took on some longs today.. Two of our accounts was in an all cash position.

Still there is risk and we are waiting for some of our indicators to show when buying is safe. The bottom is not in yet and you may see some wild rallies - do not buy - but only use these to unload or do intraday trading - there is lot of money to be made here.. We will see a bottom and it will be very obvious once it arrives and the pent up demand will be huge... So be ready.

if you have not taken profits in stocks that are making money like AMZN, AAPL and MSFT along with FB, NFLX - we highly recommend taking profits.. These stocks have not reached a bottom yet even with the intermediate rallies.. Check out our tweets @trucharts and check out some of the charts we post during the week. We have been short AAPL, SHOP and ROKU.. We closed our ROKU position today..

Again - we recommend doing intraday trading and using options to collect and get good premiums. The bottom is not in yet as much as it may appear from the oversold conditions and the VIX.. We may see a short term rally here - but use these to sell..

Good luck trading..

S&P and all indices at records - Wow Trump did have a huge impact on markets. Where do we go from here?

Welcome to the era of Trump and record high markets:

First of all, I wanted to apologize from being away so long from writing my blogs. Due to personal medical reasons, I was unable to keep my blog updated.

Well, we are definitely in the record books for sure. All indices at all time highs, financials were up, airlines up - everything is and has been going up. Financials did pull back from their highs after the Trump agenda does not seem to be materializing. But tech stocks - unbelievable run - all semi stocks, NVDA, AMD and many others are trading like it is 1999. Many amateurs are jumping into the market and let me tell you, I lived through 1999-2000, cashed out at the top - and this is looking like deja vu all over again - maybe to slightly smaller extent. Stocks are trading at sky high valuations and nobody cares, the media just keeps priming the pump and the bubble - along with the Fed.

It has been a nice run and we are still not seeing any real technical weakness - except in the financial stocks. AMZN, GOOG, FB, NFLX (or FANG stocks) along with TSLA are trading at valuations that are the GDPs of many nations combined together. I think it is getting crazy - but make hay while the sun shines. There is no regard for risk or risk aversion and therefore one as an investor or trader needs to make sure they have their stops in place. This is a good time to have one foot out the door.

There is no question that this is a liquidity driven bubble, the Fed and all central banks are driving this bubble with no regard for the debt and market valuations. You can tell you are in a bubble when the markets and certain stocks bounce back to new highs even on bad news - mind you there has really been no real growth in revenue - there has been financial shenanigans and financial engineering to create wonderful rosy outcomes. Huge stock buybacks, and setting expectations low with the analysts community - and then during earnings season beating the estimates - sounds like a nice scam to me. But the SEC is powerless entity and they just play along.

Anyway, we think there is still room at the top. With all this talk (no action) about tax reform, health care reform, infrastructure - well Mr. Trump does not seem to get that this is not like erecting a skyscraper - or just making a golf resort - this is the government and the government does not run like a business - and you cannot run it like a reality show - he just loves showmanship. Anyway, back to the markets.

So we like the following stocks - AAPL, WDC, PANW, INTC, QCOM - there are many others, but we are being opportunistic in our trades and watch for new highs and breakouts. We also look at the technical end of day reports from our site at www.trucharts.com/marketreports.aspx - look for RSI less than 30, improving RSI, TC Positional Buy signals and MACD crossover reports.

The unemployment picture is not looking good - debt at consumer level is at record highs and this is already impacting the retail sector - obvious from the store closing and stock prices. Leadership is narrow and housing is looking like a major bubble - rides along with stock prices.

We are in a bull market and heading higher into the IPHONE 8 season and going long AAPL is a good trade. Keep good stops and wait for our next update soon.

Good luck trading.

Markets Post Xmas hangover, SP500 line in the sand breached and how to prepare for 2016; The movie "The Big Short"

Markets Post Xmas hangover - SP500 line in the sand breached and how to prepare for 2016;

The movie "The Big Short"

Ok it has been a REALLY long time since I updated my blog. Was out of it for a while for many reasons but suffice to say that I will do my best to keep our readers updated as much as I can on the latest conditions about the happenings in the markets and my predictions.

Well we have had a helluva of a ride in January and thank the Lord we were short. I was expecting some run up into the 1st week but that did not happen. We knew that the 2015 end of the year ramp was a who can beat the next fund manager race and we made money in it while the going was good and then the bottom fell out of the markets - I guess they are saying oil - but we beg to differ - we think oil was one factor but in addition the markets were, and are, still overvalued. We had the standard drop to old support and the standard "W" bounce backup - very textbook pattern and we expect the markets to move up to the 50d SMA coming in from an oversold condition, high bearishness and elevated volatility. Personally I think we are headed lower but for the short term the bulls have the upper hand. And with Grandma Yellen and the Fed out of the way for March - the party is on.. We said short many of our favorites like - IBB, QCOM, AMBA, FIT and many more - we covered a lot of these shorts and are planning to cover some more this week to have some ammo for some short term long trades. We like a paired trade like long AMGN short IBB and writing weekly calls and puts. In addition, BIDU is reporting this week, as is HD. We are looking to go long BIDU and waiting to short HD if their earnings/forecast do not look strong. We think HD is topped out - but we need confirmation that the housing is sort of peaking out here.

I personally believe that the Superbowl 50 was the mark of the super debt and commodity cycle. Gold - our favorite metal did well - but we need to wait for a nice pullback and consolidation. In the end gold is the best currency. As I write this gold is down 20+ and markets are rocking!! We have to see the bears capitulate a little bit before the next leg down. Be nimble..

Now for my rant on politics in the USA - It is the biggest sham ever put in the face of the public. It is such a shame that there is no real leaders in this amazing country where we had folks like Abraham Lincoln and so many more Presidents that made us feel proud to be an American - After George Bush Sr - it has been all downhill - Obama - fuck Obamacare - the worst health care law ever enacted - - we do not live in a free market society - we live in a collusion/cartel of insurance company health care system along with the drug companies - go see how the biotech execs have been cashing out of their stock - mind blowing, to say the least.. Hillary - liar and panderer, Trump Incompetent - no idea what he is talking about or saying, Sanders - Give everything for free and blame the corporations except the fucking government - Cruz - owned by the Big Boys as is Rubio - thank God Jeb is gone, as is Christie - owned by the mafia and even looks like the Mafia and I feel sad for Rand Paul - not that I agree with everything he says - but he was a really good candidate - and the media just keeps giving Trump so much free advertising and you can tell the media is so totally biased with the incessant analysis is way beyond crazy.. Where do people find so much time?? None of the candidates are even worth becoming vice president - much less president. Sad state of affairs for this amazing country - what blows my mind is how people even listen to Hillary talk - she is speaks from both sides of her mouth - saying one thing and at the same time telling herself how stupid the citizens of this country are. It is truly mind boggling. Our votes have no meaning - that is how the whole system is designed. All these debates are just a show and nothing else - Hillary will be president - that is the plan and Trump is part of this whole sham. Noise in the system..

Now for one of the best movies of all time - goes in my top 10 list - "The Big Short" - Please see this movie and it will teach you why sometimes you have to go against the crowd. When we were running our hedge fund ( I wish we had known about the insurance on CDSs') - anyway we were short the housing market - and no one would believe us and they started pulling their money out of our fund. After the crash of 2008-2009 - people agreed that we were right. We see the same state of housing - I know I may be early - but the tell tale signs are there - and it will come crashing again. It is like a double top and that is what I believe we are witnessing - easy credit and easy money printing and bubble blowing by the Fed - Big Ben and then his apparent clueless prodigy Grandma Yellen - what a disaster. The Fed has done nothing, along with the bankers of this country - then ruin the whole economy - it is easy when money is free to print - we are in debt to our eyeballs and yet we act like - no big deal. At the rate we are going - we will cross 20T this year.. States are going to go broke and then the government will too.. Buy gold, land and hoard cash because they are going after our retirement accounts soon.. It is coming - be ready..

Anyway - I am travelling again after a long period of some sickness - in Hong Kong waiting for my flight to India and then going to China on my way back to start a new business venture. I will keep trading as I love it and it is one of my passions.  Do check out our site - we have made many changes and improvements and do subscribe - it helps pay for our self funded developers/server and data charges and keeps us motivated to do more. Not to brag - but I do think we have a very unique site and for the end user we provide some of the best features. We are working on more features and will keep doing so. We have the best buy/sell signals with our proprietary strategies - check these out on the stockcharts page.

Good luck trading and best wishes.

Greece, Markets and Dow Jones below 200d SMA - Mid week update - Blog Trucharts.com Stock Blog

Mid Week Update - Trucharts.com Stock Blog - Will Grexit be a reality and stocks to trade and China stock markets

SEO stuff:

Stock Charts Free - Trucharts.com - Technical Analysis, MACD, ETFs, Dividend stocks, Charting, Free Charts, Stock trading, Hot stocks, Trading Strategies:

What a week - sorry, we could not post over the weekend and then we had huge market movements in China, US and then the Greek referendum.

China markets were down over 30% and the Chinese government made or passed laws to arrest folks who were aggressively short selling, then increased margin leverage, forced brokers to plead a measly 120B Yuan to buy stocks, banned companies from selling their own stock and I am not sure when this list will end. Well in response to all these wonderful government interventions, the markets rebounded yesterday to the tune of 200 points and everyone was getting excited. We are non-believers of this rally and think it will still take its own course eventually - we believe the China growth engine is slowing due to their shadow banking and debt problems of the state owned entities. We expect the Chinese GDP growth to drop to below the 7% number and the Chinese are very concerned. We stated that the world is mired in overcapacity and China is at the root of this overcapacity. We expect a slight bounce in the markets here, but the downtrend should resume - timing not clear. When you are minting a billionaire everyday, you will eventually have more billionaires than anywhere in the world... Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles and the Chinese government does not know how to handle bubbles - amateurs. And they have been printing money non stop - this will come to haunt them someday.

Now Greece - well the referendum passed with an overwhelming NO to the Eurozone and it is not clear what the Grexit will look like - we believe the Eurozone members Germany and France are extremely concerned about the future of the Euro zone if they allow Greect to exit - this is called dismembering - if one falls will others follow - Italy, Spain, Portugal and who else!! That is the reason the Eurozone leaders are scrambling to prevent Greece from exiting - we still expect that this is inevitable..

US markets - We stated in our previous blogs that the markets were exhibiting topping action and sure enough we had the markets trying to hold levels of 18000 for the DOW, 2100 for the SP500 and the 5000 level for NASDAQ. This topping action was ongoing for 4-6 weeks with 3 digit moves every other day. Eventually the markets broke down and now the earnings season is in full bloom. Markets broke 200D SMA for DOW and we are closely watching the 17700 level now as resistance and 2070 for the SP500. VIX is elevated and we have to be on our toes.

We had earnings report from Micron, which were lower than forecast and their outlook was grim. AMD re-enforced the slowdown in the PC markets and we expect the same from the overall semi sector. We stated to go short INTC or SMH and overvalued stocks such as AMBA, SWKS, NXPI and AVGO. We believe INTC buying ALTR was a desperate move from INTC and they paid a hefty premium for this. And as did AVGO buying BRCM for a hefty premium. There is no questions there is a major slowdown in this sector and we do not expect any major driver for this sector. Overcapacity is a definite issue and the phone markets are getting severely saturated in China and India.

Some good reads from this and the past week:

We are long BIDU,CYBR with covered calls written and short INTC,SWKS,AMBA. We went long WBA today for a short term trade.

We recommend that you hedge your positions by buying some put protection and selling some covered calls.

Check out some new features on our site and help us spread the word - we rely on word of mouth advertising - we focus our funds on driving development of our site.

Here are some charts for DIA, SPY, and QQQ - weekly:

Keep an eye on 50 week SMA for all the above symbols - these are critical support. In addition, watch IBB to see if it closes this week below 13 week SMA - if it does - it is ripe for a short.

Best of luck trading.

We made over 18% in three weeks? What did you trade?

Trucharts.com Blog week ending 4/24/2015

Free Stock Chart(s), Technical Screener, MACD Charts, Scanner, Real Time Stock News, Stock Patterns, Stock Quotes, Portfolio Management, Earnings Calendar and more:

Well the stock markets have been going through a nice up trend with this earnings season in full force. Stocks in many sectors were rocking and not so in some sectors. The technology semiconductor sector looks like it has topped out in earnings - check how AVGO, NXPI, TXN (reported earnings and tanked) and many others are pointing to a slowdown in this sector. We were short SMH and recommending shorting NXPI and AVGO in our last blog. We would stay short SMH.

In addition, next week we have the moment of the quarter earnings from AAPL on Monday and then TWTR on the 29th (and BIDU also). FB (Facebook) earnings did not look strong and we still do not like FB due to its valuation. Google stock moved, primarily due to short covering. AMZN was a blowout - unfortunately we think here it is expensive here - even though it may move higher. The earnings will keep going this week and you can check the earnings calendar for your stock on our stockview page in the data box and on our earnings calendar page at: Earnings Calendar.

Here is a stock we talked about shorting and looks like a great candidate for short - please always hedge your position by buying an out of the money call. We always hedge our positions. Stock is IPGP and here is the chart:

Stock is closed below 13d and 50d SMA - target would be 85 and below.

Gold got killed last week but we think this is going to be range bound from $1100 to $1200 and we will keep a close eye on this. Some commodity stocks did well this past week - check out RS, VALE.

Markets are still trending higher - we think there is a chance for a breakout here and we have to see if there is follow through. Chinese markets are on a roll - bubble brewing but not over yet.

Now how did we make 18% - we traded TWTR stock - TWTR has been range bound between 49 and 53 and we bought the stock for 3 weeks in a row and wrote the covered calls for each of those weeks, since TWTR has weekly options. We traded 400 share blocks and our investment was $10000 and our net profit was $1800. Total return - 18%. We are still long TWTR and plan to stay long into earnings - we think TWTR is beating FB (facebook) and is growing now. We will write covered calls for next week May 1st - Friday for part of our position.  Anyway - I wil be traveling this week and will still try to publish and update the blog next weekend. Check out our site for excellent real time stock news and excellent features like mouseover charts/automated buy and sell signals for any stock which you will find on no other sites. Trucharts.com Market closing update - 1/28/2015

Free Stock Charts/ETFs/Dividend stocks at Trucharts.com: Auto Stock Buy/Sell signal strategies - check out our site - free 30d trial:

Well another down day after Fed speak and the techncial picture is getting weaker. Read this article - a very good read on the market technicals: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/too-already-bear-market-110124065.html.

We stated we never have our portoflio all long or all short. We were hedged but stayed with our shorts - GM, F, IBB and DAL. We closed our YHOO short early. Our long side of portfolio was hedged with covered calls and today's weak close was not a good sign.

OIL is getting crushed and our USO position is not looking strong. We will hold on as the bearish sentiment on oil is growing day by day. We now expect that oil will go to 40 possibly. Gold was down and we are short AEM.

The market has been going through a tug of war between the bulls and the bears and looks like right now the bulls are losing. Earnings have been mediocre and a few companies are either beating or rasing their forecasts. Majority of the forecasts have been down for this year. Well what this tells us is that the economy is going to see some challenges this year and the world economies are in for a challenge.

The Greek anti-austerity party victory is driving up the Greek bond yields - expect some fire crackers from the Euro zone - what happens if Greece decides to break away from the Euro zone. Who is next?

We still want to stay short GM, F and AEM. We will sit and wait tight with our USO position and average down when the dust is cleared. 2000 onthe S&P has been the line in the sand - we will have to watch this 2000 mark and see if the S&P can hold or break it.

AAPL stock was up today and YHOO pulled back - FB still looks like a great short - overvalued company.

Trucharts.com - Free stocks and Scans - Markets Update and comments - 01/15/2015

Another down day and we stated in our blog and during the weekly commentary the up move looked like a bull trap and that the markets looked precarious. Earnings are not coming in as expected - and the high expectations were reflected in the high valuations and stock prices - it was like there would be no end in sight - markets were moving up on low volume into the end of the year.

Stocks that do not look good are BBY (Best buy), INTC (Intel), FB (Facebook) - we shorted FB today. We went long gold miners today and we stated that these were looking strong over the weekend - the gold move up was primarily due to the down move for the USD and then the SNB announcement that the Swiss Franc peg to the Euro was no longer in play - that drove gold even higher - this tells us that the Euro is doomed and it will go to par with the USD. A lot of hedge funds exploded today due to the short position in the Swiss franc.

We showed several stocks on our blog that exhibited weak technicals and were flashing sell signals in our weekly commentary on g+ and twitter (@trucharts). We are short IBB, GM, F, DAL and AEM. Long ANV, WSM, USO, LINE, K and BIS.

Click here to access the charts on our site: www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx

The markets for the short term have not bottomed yet and we should see some technical weakness into the earnings barrage next week. We would short BBY here and our next pick is LAD - we think the auto cycle has peaked and any stock dealing with the auto market is a short - especially dealers and manufacturers (GM, F are examples of stocks we are short). Here is the chart for LAD and it flashed a red sell signal yesterday:

Use our site for auto buy and sell signal strategy. You can save and make money using this excellent proprietary trading indicator.

What a day!!! - closing remarks 1/13/2014

Well it sure felt like Friday the 13th today. Markets were up and then pulled back completely. We think it was a bull trap and people are very concerned about the upcoming earnings reports and forward guidance. With oil dropping and the commodity sector (at least for now except gold) falling - looks like there maybe some rough riding here. These type of moves happen when there is tug of war between the bears and the bulls. TIF (Tiffany got massacred yesterday) - Crappy stock SNDK got killed - they were getting the benefit of a bull market and we think the semiconductor run maybe over. Please take profits in this sector until the 2nd half of the year comes around. Technically, today was a bearish day - see chart below for DIA and SPY. You will see lower RSI , lower MACD and the DIA/SPY closed 50d SMA. ALmost looks like a bearish wedge pattern.

We think oil has reached the bottom of its range - we will watch it here carefully and try to establish a position in USO.

We hope to see some good results from the retailers - we will keep an eye on that.
We will close our ABBV position tomorrow - should have closed it today.

We are long AMKR,WSM,K,CYBR,USO and LINE. Short GM,F,AEM,DAL,IBB. We always hedge our portfolio with options and not be all long or all short.

Check out our site and you can clearly see our auto buy/sell signals for your stocks.
GPRO and MU were on the sell signal list 4-5 days ago.

TWTR stock at Trucharts.com and more

Trucharts.com - TWTR stock

As we indicated yesterday, we went long TWTR today - we think this is headed to 42.

Markets pulled back today - should be expected after such a huge run - we think the retail news from GPS (Gaps) and BBBY (Bed Bath and beyond) was not good - but we will keep an eye out for retail stocks.

We are short GM, F, IBB, DAL.

We are long TWTR, CYBR, K, USO, LINE, WSM.

Gold stocks were moving higher today.

There is a very interesting divergence going on between gold and oil and the commodity complex - we suspect this maybe due to the currency weakening in the Eastern Block and other countries vs the USD. The junior gold miners are seeing some heavy buying activity - is gold going to go up this year?

Check out our market reports page at: www.trucharts.com/marketreports.aspx - this helped us pick TWTR.

New Year and new resolutions - I am sure Yellen and the Fed have their resolutions already in place - we think there resolution is keep economy on track and no need to raise rates - the dollar strength and weakening economies around the world will bolster the demand for US $ and US bonds - we do not see the bond bubble imploding (at keast yet). Seeing the oil collapse and the Russian ruble collapse is making the US dollar gain more strength and we suspect the Chinese RMB will get weaker - with the Chinese economy slowing - the Chinese will have no choice but to allow the RMB to weaken and make their exports competitive and with the Chinese economy driven by exports to EU and other nations with weakening currencies and economies - the RMB has to fall further. That is our prediction for 2015 - what does this do to gold - with energy prices down we expect gold to drop also - but we will have to keep an eye on this - gold may also become the currency of choice - a tricky catch 22 situation. Oil drop is, we believe, a political driven drop and maybe mixed in with a hint of over-supply. This is affecting major economies like Russia, Venezuela and other major oil-producing nations. We expect oil to be range bound between $45-$70. We went long USO and LINE this week.  The economies of US states like Texas, Oklahoma, ND will be affected by this drop in oil price - we will have to see the impact.

Fed action - we do not expect any rate hikes this year as we stated earlier.

Stock bubbles and valuations - There is no doubt we are in a stock bubble - the accounting shenanigans, stock buybacks help moved the stock prices and earnings. Many stocks and sectors are trading at above average PEs - with the Fed holding back on raising rates, we expect stocks to possibly rise this year as there are almost no alternatives to make a decent return. Stocks look extended short-term and we expect a pullback here and will have to keep a close eye on the earnings and forward forecasts for Q1. Semi stocks were downgraded last qtr by BofA Merrill Lynch and this a sign that the semi stocks have had a nice long bull run and we would expect a pullback. Keep an eye on the following stocks SWKS, TXN, ALTR, XLXN, SYNA, MXIM, SIMO etc.

VC funding and company valuations are still outrageous and it smells a lot like 1999.

We also expect major dividend cuts from the energy sector stocks - so please keep a close eye on your small to mid-sized oil and energy stocks with current high payout and high dividend payments - these will definitely impact the stocks prices.

Consumer staple stocks and retail stocks are holding up well and we expect the retail sector to show decent earnings. There have not been any major warnings to date - with the gas prices at the pump dropping, we expect that consumers used this opportunity to spend more on gifts etc during this Christmas season.

Utility stocks had a huge run due to the drop in bond yields and we need to keep an eye on these - there was pullback on Friday - but we expect that this sector will still be strong this year unless there is a bond rout.
We added a new feature to our stock site: Multiple stocks charts on one page - check this link: www.trucharts.com/multiplestocks.aspx.

We additionally added Ichimoku cloud and turtle trading system - these are available on the www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx.

Check out this stock LINE which we went long for a short term trade: www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx?TICK=LINE.

Gold miner stocks were up on Friday - keep an eye on GDX, GDXJ.

Trucharts positions: Short GM (due to recall), technically stock extended, ALTR, DAL, IBB, AEM. Long USO, CYBR, WSM, K, HMY, LINE.

Trucharts.com Blog week ending 12/19/2014

For SEO: Trucharts.com – Stock Charts Free, Stock Market, Stocks, Charting, Dividend Stocks, World Markets, Technical Analysis, Market Sentiment Charts
Merry Xmas and happy holidays to all. We are in a short week of trading this week and the fireworks were on last week after Fed Speak. We did not expect any surprises from the Fed on the raising of the Fed Funds rate, and the Fed made it a point to tell the markets that it was still ok to take risks and that drove the markets to recover over a 800 points on the DOW and 100 points on the SP500. A lot of this was driven by energy stocks and since some of the stocks had dropped over 50% – there were short covering rallies and bottom fishing and a major short squeeze. BofA Merrill Lynch downgraded several semi stocks but these did not correct as much. The SP500 and DOW look like they are still in an uptrend and our indicators are still showing a trend for the markets to mover higher – after a short consolidation period. The move this past week was massive, but the volumes in some stocks was not high.
We like XLU (www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx?TICK=XLU) and the utility stocks as good dividend earners. Check out the charts for SO, ED, PCG and DUK. Even the REIT’s look good and some consumer staple stocks look good. We took a position in K or Kellog (www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx?TICK=K) and USO – we believe this has finally bottomed for the short term. Keep an eye on CAT (www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx?TICK=CAT) – we are looking to take a position in CAT.
We have been hurt by our short position in IBB – but have been writing puts to improve our short price. Our other positions are doing OK – Long WSM, short YHOO (plan to close Monday), DAL, AEM. We are looking to go long CYBR.
There is definitely a XMAS rally going on and we expect this to last into the New Year – until the earnings season starts. AAPL (www.trucharts.com/stockview.aspx?TICK=AAPL) still looks good technically.
We added some new features to our site this week – execiting stuff:
1. MULTIPLE SYMBOL CHARTS on one page – check this feature out at: http://www.trucharts.com/multiplestockcharts.aspx
2. ICHIMOKU cloud indicator on our stockview page and turtle trade indicator

Trucharts.com Blog week ending 12/12/2014

Trucharts.com Blog Week ending 12/12/2014

We expected the markets to hit 18000 for the DOW and 2100 for the S&P500. It came close but did not touch these milestones. We stated that the markets were looking extended and that the risk was high - that scenario played itself out this past week. The breakdown in oil and the commodity complex was not surprising. We expect oil to hit between 50 and 55 - that would be more than a 50% correction and we expect some bottoming in that range. The commodity 15 year bull cycle may be coming to an end. Stocks looked extremely extended and one of our sentiment charts was showing that a puulback was imminent. Check out this chart which had predicted prior pullbacks - it is the chart of the stocks below their 50d SMA vs S&P500 - check this chart below:

You can see in the chart above how the trend for the stocks above 50d SMA is trending down even when the market is hitting new highs. This is evident in both the charts for stocks on the NYSE and NASDAQ. It does not appear that this has bottomed. We should keep an eye on this indicator on ur reports page under "Charts" at .

We expect volatility to be up this week and the S&P to touch the 50D SMA at 2000 and we have to see if the buyers jump in. The DIA has it's 50D SMA at 172.4 - we would like to see if this bounces back. The megaphone pattern in the indices is lookign evident - but then we have to wait and watch - if that does play out then the S&P500 has to break below it's previous low on the prior corrction in October.

Fortunately for our portfolio, we followed our charting buy/sell signal strategies and closed positions in SDRL (down over 50% from our sell price), RIG, USO (all oil related). We stated shorting GM - still looks like a good short - in addition we had shown the chart for FCX as short in our last blog. We are short ALTR, IBB, DAL, YHOO and long BIS, WSM. We have hedged our positions with puts and calls. Although we see opportunity oin shorting AA - we will wait and watch since we are over exposed to shorts currently.

Good luck trading next week.

Trucharts.com Blog and stocks to watch - Week ending 12/5/2014

Trucharts.com - Blog update and Stocks to watch:

Another week and another set of new records and new highs. There is no stopping this train. Excellent jobs report (321K new jobs created). Oil dropped this week and so did the commodities. Energy stocks are getting slammed and so are commodity stocks. We think there maybe an end coming to the commodity cycle - many have indicated that this is typically a 15 year cycle that started in 2000 and will end by 2015. This will impact commodity stocks - so if you have commodity stocks in your portfolio - like FCX, BHP, RIO - be mindful and this end to the commodity cycle may impact the dividends being paid out by the commodity stocks. Another concern recently has been the drop in the oil sector stocks and their issuance of junk bonds to fund their exploration - the main concern is related to the capability of these companies to pay back this debt due to the drop in oil prices (check JNK). Financial stocks are breaking out. We are watching BAC (Bank of America) - here is the chart (weekly) - looks like it is going to breakout (Other stocks to watch in this sector - financial - JPM, XLF, MS, ETFC, AMTD)
Stock Chart BAC

Gold is still holding between 1100 - 1200 - watching this closely - we still think this is headed to 1000.
Health stocks and airline stocks were hitting new highs this week along with many tech stocks. AVGOMCHP, SYNA and SLAB announced better outlooks for the coming quarter. We like the chart of SLAB - here is the chart (check the MACD and RSI):
Stock Chart SLAB

Right now the trend is your friend and the don't fight the Fed. We will look to go long the financial stocks this week. Keep and eye on the commodity stocks.
We are still heading into the holidays and a strong period of the year for the markets - we would expect some consolidation - but DOW 18K is imminent and as is SP500 hitting 2100. We are short AEM, IBB (hurting right now), YHOO (will likely close this tomorrow and go long BAC). Watching the stocks above and UTX.
Good luck trading.
